Rules and Regulations
Rules and Regulations for Membership at Liberty Air Group
1) Pilot Currency
1.1) You must fly one Liberty Air Group (FreedomAir/LibertyAir) approved hub route every 45 days using our automated ACARS system (kACARSII) to maintain your currency (one-way, not round-trip). New hire or re-hired pilots must file their first report within 14 days of hire using kACARSII.
1.2) New hire or re-hired pilots who have not flown their first flight within 14 days will be dropped from the pilot roster without notice.
1.3) Pilots who have submitted at least one approved PIREP must fly one flight (one-way trip) every 45 days.
1.4) If a pilot can not fly within the designated time period they may fill out the Leave of Absence (LoA) request form (does not apply to new hire/re-hire pilots). An LoA is good for a maximum of 90 days.
1.5) Pilots may be marked as inactive/retired after 90 days of inactivity (last PIREP filing). Pilots will not have site access at that point and must use the Contact Us form to contact us with their intentions.
2) Accelerated Flight
2.1) Use of accelerated flight time is optional - the maximum rates shown below are mandatory
2.2) Pushback at departure gate to Top of Climb (TOC) = 1x
2.3) Top of Descent (TOD) to engine shutdown at arrival gate = 1x
2.4) Total scheduled flight time 2 hours or less = 1x
2.5) Total scheduled flight time greater than 2 hours up to 4 hours = 2x maximum
2.6) Total scheduled flight time greater than 4 hours = 4x maximum
2.7) Use of accelerated flight time shall be limited to level cruise flight only
2.8) PIREPs submitted that do not meet the above listed standards will be rejected
3) ACARS Usage
3.1) All scheduled flights shall be flown using the kACARSII program and submitted automatically to the FreedomAir website.
3.2) Manual PIREP's will not be accepted unless there is a specific reason listed in your submitted flight report (in the comments section). Please do not make a habit of filing manual PIREP's. If you need assistance with the kACARSII software, contact a Staff member for technical support.
4) Aircraft Usage
4.1) Pilots shall use the aircraft type specified in the scheduled route or an approved substitute for the selected flight.
4.2) Pilots are responsible for selecting an aircraft with sufficient range and shall load adequate fuel to safely reach their destination or alternate airport, including holding patterns. Landing at intermediate airports for refueling is not permitted. As well, setting unlimited fuel or in-flight refueling is not permitted.
4.3) If the pilot determines that the specified aircraft or approved substitute aircraft is unable to complete the selected flight segment safely, the pilot shall notify Staff via PM or email prior to commencing the flight for instructions.
5) Altitude Assignments
5.1) Pilots shall use the cruising altitude listed in the schedule for the specified route.
5.2) Schedules are created to reflect a realistic cruise altitude for the aircraft type used on each route segment.
5.3) Submitted PIREP's that do not indicate the flight attained TOC (Top of Climb) will be rejected.
5.4) Pilots may, at their choosing, fly at an altitude higher than listed in the schedule. Also, once TOC is attained, pilots may elect to descend to a lower cruising altitude to take better advantage of winds aloft.
