If you wish to advise someone of an image, or web page, that is acceptable. Just provide the URL. Do NOT post copyrighted images, or link to them such that they appear in your message.

Fair use provisions of the Copyright Act allow quotations from a web site or publication, but credit to the author/copyright holder must be given and a link back to the originating website must be provided.

Violators of this provision will not be allowed further access to the forums.

Posting Images in the FreedomAir Forum and Pilot Screenshot Gallery (May 1st 2005)

Basic Policies:

Images can be uploaded to the FreedomAir Forums and Pilot Screenshot Gallery systems.

FreedomAir Forum and Pilot Screenshot Gallery pictures/images should be aviation related. Inappropriate pictures/images shall not be allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, any adult content. Management reserves the right to edit/delete any pictures/images it deems inappropriate, at it's sole discretion.

Images which are used to assist in explaining a problem, providing a fix, or otherwise used in the manner of a tutorial or image of a problem can be submitted in any forum. As well, images used to promote FreedomAir sponsored events can be submitted in the appropriate forum.

Images that are of a "screenshot" nature - a real world picture or a screenshot of the sim that are solely for the purpose of sharing with other users - must be uploaded only to the Pilot Screenshots Gallery. You may, however, post a forum topic advising other users of your images in the Pilots Screenshot Gallery.

DO NOT post or link to images not owned by you or that you do not have permission to post/link to.

Image Size:

Images either uploaded to the server or linked to on a third party must not be any wider than 1024 pixels, and no higher than 768 pixels and either in JPG or GIF format. Please attempt to limit each individual image size to 150 Kbytes. These policies are in place because:

1) HUGE amounts of bandwidth are consumed by large images.
2) Load times for dial-up users are greatly increased.
3) Some users on lower screen resolutions may have to scroll to the right to see your entire image.

If you are linking to an image on YOUR website, the same rules shall apply. No images larger than 1024 x 768 pixels and no larger than 150 Kbytes in size. DO NOT LINK to images not owned by you or that you do not have permission to link to.

Number of Images:

There must be NO MORE than 5 screenshots uploaded to any one FreedomAir Forum topic. We ask this because:

1) HUGE amounts of bandwidth are consumed by more images.
2) Load times for dial-up users are greatly increased.

Upload Limitations (May 1st 2005)

The FreedomAir Forum System and the Pilots Screenshot Gallery are two separate areas of the FreedomAir site which are link by a common login process. Reaching an upload limit in one does not prohibit uploading in the other (unless you've also reached your limit there too).

Pilots Screenshot Gallery:

The Pilots Screenshot Gallery software has been programmed to allow each registered user a maximum combined image size limit of 5 MB. Once this limit is reached, you will not be able to upload additional images to the Pilots Screenshot Gallery, unless you delete some of your previously stored images.

FreedomAir Forum System:

The FreedomAir Forum system software has been programmed to allow each registered user a maximum combined file size limit of 5 MB. This limit includes files and pictures uploaded to the FreedomAir Forum system only (not to the Pilot Screenshots Gallery). Once this limit is reached, you will not be able to upload additional files/pictures to the forum system, unless some of your previously uploaded items are removed. If you require help in deleting items from the forum system, contact one of the site administrators.

The above listed upload limits are in place as we have limited storage space available on our servers and wish to give all registered users an equal opportunity to share their screenshots and files with their fellow users.
